I think one of the wisest phrases/conditions I’ve ever heard has got to be the phrase ‘life as we know it’ because like. There are no copper based life forms, or life forms that can survive without o2 or life that can live without water…but that’s only as we ourselves can imagine life because thats how life developed on this planet. It makes me sad when people are like ‘look water is on this planet it might have life!!’ because yeah…but that’s basing on the assumption that all life everywhere in the universe are water based life forms. For all we know life on planet Earth is the only planet that has water based life forms.
I just think people need to keep a broader mind about what life on other planets might look like because we can’t call what we need to live the gospel of what all life everywhere needs to live because we just don’t have that knowledge.
To borrow from Star Trek, in an infinite universe with infinite possible and infinite combinations, why are we so stuck on the idea that all life everywhere requires the same building blocks that life on Earth requires?
